OUR PASSION & PROGRAMS

Fighting hunger in America is a passion of Bread of Life Development(BOLD) Ministries. Across the nation, 22 million children, who typically receive free or reduced meals during the school year, suffer from hunger when school is out. For this very reason, BOLD Ministries is making an impact in the fight against hunger, by feeding children 18 and under during the summer months.

Since 2009, BOLD Ministries has been a sponsor of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in the Metro Atlanta area of Georgia. Statistically, BOLD Ministries has progressively increased the number of meals served from 20,000 in 2009 to over 140,000 meals in 2012. The SFSP allows BOLD Ministries the opportunity to be of service in our local community as well as neighboring counties in the Atlanta Metro area. In 2012 alone, BOLD Ministries served six different counties during the operation of the SFSP in the summer months. In 2013 BOLD Ministries served seven counties and provided over 160,000 free meals in Georgia.

In addition to serving the Atlanta Metro area, in 2012, BOLD Ministries initiated a SFSP service in Northern and Southern California as well. Our goal in 2013 is to help combat hunger in America by expanding and connecting more kids to summer meals in their communities. One of the objectives of BOLD Ministries this year and every year is to continue to reach out and expand the number of children served. One way this expansion takes place is through the increase of feeding sites that we serve.

In 2009, BOLD Ministries began the SFSP program in the Atlanta area by serving five sites and has progressively increased that number each year to reach 53 sites in 2012. During our first year of operation of the SFSP in California, BOLD Ministries served 15 sites. It is the desire of our organization to continue to increase and expand the summer program and feed more kids this year in Georgia and California as well.

In December of 2013 BOLD Ministries started “Project L.E.A.P” an afterschool program in Conyers, Georgia targeting at-risk youth. The program provides mentoring, tutoring, homework assistance and healthy meals to children in the community. We also provide free afterschool snacks and supper in Sacramento, Stockton, Tracy, and Los Angeles, California.

California Statistics:

2013 we served 127,761 meals

2012 we served 33,735 meals (first year in California)
